SHOW RECAP #12. January 26th, 2012 @ Eli's Mile High Club, Oakland, CA.

This was an odd show.  We were opening for SUTEKH HEXEN and MEGATON LEVIATHAN, and another really killer black metal band whose name escapes me at the moment.  All these bands were really good and super serious (on stage at least), and we were a bunch of stoned clowns.  We didn't get a chance to rehearse a specific set before this show, instead making it up right before playing.  The result was a set that was probably too long, and certainly a bit sloppy.  Nobody seemed to mind, we still had fun playing and perhaps that "fun" came across to other folks as well.  We got so damned stoned before our set, and then afterwords got ridiculously and unnecessarily stoned out of our minds with our friends.  So overall, a pretty good night!  We look forward to playing Eli's Mile High Club again.  As far as spots go that are 21+, Eli's is Connoisseur approved.

SHOW RECAP #11. January 19th, 2012 @ 5822 Shattuck Ave, Oakland, CA

We started off 2012 with a house show with our buddies REIVERS, and two new bands, REPLICA and BAD BLOOD.  All the bands were great, which put a pressure on us to perform well since we were the final band of the night.  This is rather tricky for us since we spent the whole show getting baked and watching these bands kill.  We pulled through however, despite the occasional pedal turned on / off due to playing in a tiny room.  We tried to do a straightedge set out of respect for those in the other bands that don't smoke, we made it halfway through the set before we had to stop and fire up some blunts.  We can survive not smoking while playing when it's a bar or Gilman or whatever, but if we CAN, we WILL.  Due to life being temporarily hectic for everyone, we haven't been practicing as regular as we normally do, and when we did we focused on the new crop of songs we were going in to record demos of.  So for this show, we leaned heavily on that new material, and played a few songs we hadn't played live yet.  "World Without Weed", "Kill Witte", and "Smoke More" were all debuted at this show.  Also, we totally played the "I Think We're Alone Now / Midgets" combo, which wasn't going to be a part of the set, but I'm pretty sure that was what this party needed.  Overall it was a sloppy, fun time, and we hotboxed the hell out of that room so fuck yeah!

SHOW RECAP #10. December 10th, 2011 @ The Swamp, Oakland, CA

Another rad show got booked at The Swamp, and we were asked to open, fuck yeah! Since the last show at Eli's, we'd been staying busy writing a whole bunch of new songs, several of which were ready to be test driven on our stoned friends.  "Smokeland", "The Wizard", "Your Ass Is Grass", "Your Grass Is Ass", and "Real Fucking Friends" were all played for the first time.  We also opened up with a bit of Sick Of It All, via their intro tune "Clobberin' Time".  This was a whole lot of fun to play.  Fucktard and Ramming Speed were great.  We look forward to hotboxing The Swamp again, hopefully sometime soon...

This was a fairly last minute show for us, having been added to this bill the week before.  We were sorta the odd band out, being the sole "heavy" band, but this show was still a lot of fun to play and the other bands were killer, especially Kicking Spit.  This was a chance to play a few of the new songs we were working on, so we were stoked.  We opened with a bit of "Papercuts" by Nirvana, and also played our cover of "I Think We're Alone Now" by Tommy James & The Shondells.   Eli's Mile High Club is a cool spot, it's Connoisseur approved!

SHOW RECAP #8. October 22nd, 2011 @ 924 Gilman St, Berkeley, CA.

 

It was an honor for us to be a part of this show.  All the bands were great, tons of friends came out, all that good stuff.  Hopefully everyone dug what we were doing, if not we'll just have to fight them.  This was the first show where we actually had tapes for sale, and our set was mostly songs from that.  We did break out a few of the new ones we'd been playing lately, including "Devoured By A Yeti", which featured the first appearance from our real live Stoned Yeti!  "Pete From Benumb" was changed to "Chiyo From Noothgrush" for this show.  Our set was recorded with a few cameras and edited together, you can see a few songs below.  Check 'em out!

SHOW RECAP #7. September 28th, 2011 @ Burnt Ramen, Richmond, CA.

This was our show set up to to celebrate and promote the release of our "Stoned Back To Life" demo.  This show was originally supposed to happen at Hazmat, before it was shut down for good.  Burnt Ramen is a fun alternative though, and we had just played a good show there the month prior.  This show was another fun one.  A full night of bands we dig, and a full night of excessive pot smoking.  We played two sets.  First up was our entire demo from start to finish.  After that we took a weed break for a few minutes, making sure everyone was good and stoned.  After everyone was foggy, we played a second set of new songs and songs that didn't make it onto the demo.  "I Think We're Alone Now" was originally written by Ritchie Cordell and performed by Tommy James & The Shondells in 1967. It was also covered by Tiffany in 1987.  This was our first time playing it publicly and we totally screwed it up.  "Paid To Cum", "Bongwrecker" and "(Without Weed) I Just Want To Choke Everyone" were played for the first time at this show.  Thanks to everyone that stuck around for our set, and to all the bands that played this night.

SHOW RECAP #6. September 25th, 2011 @ 924 Gilman St, Berkeley, CA

Our first Gilman show!  This was a pretty small show, but still fun.  We played a pretty short set, right to the point.  That's what happens when we can't stop and smoke weed.   Bacchus from Ireland were killer.  Mouse Ear canceled, so we never got to see what sort of band would call themselves "Mouse Ear".  Other than that, there's nothing else to write about, nothing caught fire and nobody got killed. Maybe next time.
